Morning Came the 65th Day
Friday June 18th. Rest day!
I haven't commented much on our accommodation choices to date as that will be part of my summing up, but have to note this quaint architectural feature in Dungog.
Open the door, lovely room, have had smaller....
But wait, where's the bathroom?Through the sliding mirror door!Dungog does feature some lovely historical buildings. This is also where my paternal grandmother was born and schooled. The Historical Society has a fantastic (and useful) museum. They have "blue plaqued" the whole main street.
More pics on FB.
The town could be one of those that dies a slow death but I think not. They have developed a MTB facility that has stimulated increased tourism. The guy who started bike repairs from his truck mow had a thriving in-premises business which includes sales. A beautiful old pub has been refurbished as accommodation; we were lucky to have a tiur through - sure gives new meaning to shared bathrooms. It's the Royal Hotel for future reference.
The old front bar had been taken over by some enterprising women, as Meg's Kitchen. We had lunch there today.
And one has to mention their own breweryBeth gave us a tour of the town to see developments since our last visit. From the hospital a gorgeous view
On the original hospital building, a curious sign..
Who or what was the Earl of Jersey? A short sharp colonial career.
The sky is dark, tbe forecast dire and having made it all the way around to Sydney, seems we face a potential roadblock. Care, caution and commomsense required. With this in mind we end the 65th day, hopefully.

Robert and I were reading so much in the museum that they locked us in when the volunteer went home for lunch. We let ourselves out.😊
