Morning Came the 62nd Day

VERY early! Wow, 5.55am departure on the XPT., heading for Coff's Hatbour.

Dawn, as we travelled through the coastal hinterland. Scheduled stops were Kyogle, Casino and Grafton. To get to Kyogle meant getting through the Border Ranges National Park via the notable spiral railway.

Dawn on the farm!

Not a lot of pics today. This was the first sector of our trip we felt let "public trabsport" down - NSW Rail. We had booked 1st class tickets but got an SMS last night to say we were still in the same seats but no 1st class. - we "MAY be entitled to part refund"! NB. We have to request our due refund.

2nd gripe. Breakfast offerings- pies, sausage rolls or  ham and cheese toasty. We shared  the latter- unwisely! The top was cooked the  bottom just plain, untoasted bread.

3. Then I worked out that everyone in a booked seat was allocated a  non-window seat!

4. The windows had a peculiar pink tint, which combined with glaring fluro lights made photos nearly impossible.

Rant over! I guess in all the distance we covered, we had to bomb one sector. Lesson- take the bus! Lets see how the last leg compares.

We were met by an old school friend, Chris.

First excursion was to walk Mutton Bird Island. Beautiful vistas.

We had  a look around an expanding Coffs and spent  a catch-up afternoon at Chris' place.

So ended our 62nd day, watching the sun set across Park Beach. Beautiful.
