Morning Came the 53rd Day

A day well underway in Mt Isa. Dumped our bags and headed to the Isa Centre. Only one day here (due to ensuing timetables). Luke particularly wanted to do a guided tour of the Fossil Centre so booked this for the arvo.

Meanwhile we walked to the lookout, short and sharp via a beautiful cutting

The town was smaller than I anticipated; the shops don't open on Sunday.

On top, a spectacularly painted water tank

 The other side..

The hardest side to get to...
While Luke did fossils, I did the Isa Experience, social and mining history plus the Outback Garden.
 Very well done..
Fig tree!

.
My favourite, but they didn't  know the name...Mallee of some sort methinks.
We went to evening Mass..curious to see what version they have. Qld has been different every time. Mt Isa = very informal, in dress and language.
We ate at Buffs, actually the RSL, haf to share a table which was great. Well travelled couple from Rockhampton- he had a brother who lives in Kaleen.
Forgot to mention, Mt Isa is the rodeo capitol of Qld...big festival next week. Timing is everything!

As close as I need to be to the horses!
