Morning Came the 48th Day

We joked today was an "old people's day". We did the Kuranda Rail trip..both ways, first class. The Skyway wasn't working.  That's a hazard these days...not everything is open and working every day.  Now everyone we know has done this trip so this is a short post.

Up the mountain....our carriage

Stoney Creek....after we passed. Then onto Barron Falls

Till we reached Kuranda Station.

The town itself is nothing to speak of but we amused ourselves. Luke went to the Butterfly Farm, I browsed the shops. They are doing it tough.  We then went for a little river trip. Brilliant, we saw a cassowary up very close..in fact he tried to come on the boat. Another couple said they spent a week in the Daintree and didn't spot one.

And lots of "freshies"
Plus plenty of birdlife and history around the rain forest and coffee. Then it poured rain...but I had bought another umbrella.
Homeward journey...
Wine and snacks....and great views

Cairns in the mist then a bend

An iconic trip...our first Qld rail journey...a couple of big ones to come.
And so ended our 48th day.
