Morning Came the 21st Day

Constant heavy rain all night.  Not boding well and on cue the message came, " too wet and dangerous, Big Pit Tour cancelled". Oh well! One door closes, another opens.  This opened the way for a guided tour of the Town Hall.  Detour:  Federal Court was sitting in K today so we couldn't access the the auditorium. But we hit the jackpot. The guide, Timothy, was the local historian. And he could relate history with great humor.  We all sat round the Council table and he bought all the historic  portraits to life.  A really informative and entertaining session.

The building itself had pressed STEEL ceilings and the usual great staircase

Then the sun came out! Briefly visited the Catholic Church- old, except for the wooden nave, unremarkable. But the centenary commemorative stained glass window told a story

We're on the move again. 5+hr bus ride to Esperance. Very comfortable except the windows were dirty. Excusable. Much roadworks , much rain.  Passed through Widgeimooltha, Norseman, Salmon Gums. Impressive driver. Made sure every passenger was collected or in the case of any elderly, dropped at their doorstep! And so ends day 21 as far south on the mainland as we will go.
