Morning came the 4th Day....

And it was Sunday. We went to Mass. Only there did we renember that this town was badly effected by Covid...initially a victim of the Ruby Princess fiasco. Everyone, esp businesses are really careful. As was church, an older population who obviously had the lived experience.

Made our way to the water. Some personalities missing. And that was just the start! The Makers Workshop, closed. Tourist Info: closed. Cafes; closed. No, not a disaster. Had to get the phone out. Ah good. Lots of local walks. Oh no..can only get the maps at the Museum: closed.

And of course the penguins were not home either! But their houses are waiting. The boardwalk was built to accommodate the penguins underneath, some natural nests, some man made. Near the Makers Workshop, Uni of Tas have big developments..we didn't venture past here but went down towards the port. Totally a Toll domain.

Adjacent to the port a geological phenomenon...building on history

Have to say it was cleverly done, preserving the rock face

Found the old station tucked under the cliff. Seems to have had several  lives, the most recent, a restaurant, but still managed to maintain its authenticity.

Passing the still operational Covid testing place we took the overbridge to the timber part of the port...this is the real town history. Now, piles of chips for export, chips and logs. Just opened was a memorial walk depicting the history of the pulp and paper  industry that built the town.

Too many pics to load here ..more in FB which is easier for pics. A great walk...close to 12 kms. I'm sure we have used all the traffic lights in Burnie. So back to the waterfront for dinner. Food is totally out of kilter...croissant for breakfast, too engaged with seeing stuff after that, so dinner was welcome at the Fish Frenzy. And it was spectacular.

And so ends the 4th Day.
