Morning came the 5th Day

I'm persevering with this just so I can print it out when I get home! We went to Europa cafe for breakfast. It was closed on Sat as we passed but I looked in the window.... could see a lady in the kitchen. She came out the side door and said I looked lost.  No, but her accent was def Scottish,-a long conversation followed. They were from Glasgow so we could talk about common things. Said we'd be back Monday . We were. Mr. Scotland served us...longer chat with the typical but fun humor. He worked 30 yrs at the port, 10 yrs in SW  as PM for the mines, then they bought the business. Eclectic and engaging place. That's how we make new friends...by stickybeaking

2 hrs to fill so we visited the Art Gallery and the Library., both worthwhile. One of the Printmaker entries. COVID 0s and Xs

Successfully caught the bus. What I love about public transport is the slice of life one gets to experience....the people who live here. They really fire the imagination. The female with dreadlocks & tattoos, came in 2017 & stayed, bought a house in Rosebery, works at the Big4 in Strahan  half the year, other half at Cradle Mnt.  Loves the area and happy to give all the good tips. And the old Chinese couple, the lady with the 10l tin of paint, the man who joined at Waratah with a bag of groceries and 24 toilet rolls who told me the best places for pics along the way, and of course the driver.

A superb driver! The route was mainly west coast rain forest, following the contours i.e. winding and up and down. This bus goes wherever passengers need it. We called at Waratah, Tullah, Rosebery, detoured to Zeehan, back to Queenstown, finally arrived at Strahan at 8pm-5 hrs.  But back to the driver. She looked about 40...in fact was 51. Got her heavy vehicle licence at 18.Was in Canberra till she left school, Copland College to go to  Uni of Wollongong. Her life story took the 238 curves  on 38k of road over an hour from Qtown to Strahan. Gave us the drill on what to visit in Qtown and dropped us right at the door. She picks us up again on Wed a.m.

Luke is really enjoying not driving so as to appreciate the scenery. I'm getting pretty skilled at pics out a bus window

Pine chipping...

Hard to take bad photos in Tas .even at speed!

As dusk descended the weather was closing in. By dark the rain poured down.and so ended the 5th Day.
